DO OR DIE is a Belgian Hardcore band formed in 1999 by Chris Michez (singer). The band is definitely a live band that feels comfortable on stage whether it is a big European festival, an opening show for international bands (Agnostic Front, Hatebreed, Sick Of It All...) or a much smaller venue: the energy is there as if it was their first show ever.
After the first EP “Tears of Rage” got released in 2000, the band immediately started playing shows non-stop in Benelux and France. This first release was followed in 2001 with the first album “Heart Full of Pain” and in 2002 with “The Meaning Of Honor” both released through I Scream Records. Those two records were already displaying the aggressive and modern hardcore sound of DO OR DIE. In 2003, half of the band decided to quit the band to focus on their personal life but DO OR DIE was resurrected in 2004 with new members and played shows at the Pressure Fest, Graspop Metal Meeting and Fury Fest.
In 2005, the band released their third album “Tradition” through Alveran Records. This year saw the start of the collaboration with M.A.D. Tourbooking that opened the door of Germany for the young band. Even though one guitarist left the band after this release, the band continued to promote it across Europe and in famous festivals like the Dour Festival, Pressure Fest or With Full Force.
From 2008 to 2015, DO OR DIE released 3 albums (“Pray for Them” in 2008, “The Downfall of the Human Race” in 2011 and “Crows” in 2015) and continued to tour in European venues and festivals.
In 2017, a difference regarding the musical direction saw all members leave the band except Chris (founder and only remaining member of the original line-up from 1999). Following this, Chris hired new members and only play songs from “Heart Full of Pain” and “The Meaning Of Honor” and new songs like “L’Enfer” or “Maleficus Vindictive”. This line-up won’t last long because Chris decided to take a short break from DO OR DIE to focus on the side-project BURY YOUR DEMONS during the end of 2019 and early 2020.
DO OR DIE is born again in early 2021 with a younger line-up ready to give back the band its former glory in the European Hardcore scene with a new album expected for the end of 2021/early 2022.
