Surgical Steel

**Carcass** is a British death metal/grindcore band hailing from Liverpool, formed in 1985 by Ken Owen and Bill Steer. Over the course of their career, the band has traversed various sub-genres of extreme metal, starting with a style akin to Repulsion that earned them the pioneering status in goregrind. They transitioned through death metal, melodic death metal (of which they are also pioneers), and "death and roll."

The original lineup comprised Ken Owen on drums and Bill Steer on guitar and vocals. Over the years, Carcass underwent changes in band members, but Owen and Steer remained key figures in the group.

Their distinctive musical style and constant evolution have established Carcass as one of the most influential bands in the extreme metal scene. Their innovative approach to melodic death metal has left a lasting imprint on the genre.

Carcass has released several acclaimed albums, including "Reek of Putrefaction," "Symphonies of Sickness," "Heartwork," and "Surgical Steel." Each of these albums showcased the band's ability to push the boundaries of the genre while maintaining exceptional musical quality.

Their contribution to the metal scene and their impact on the development of melodic death metal have solidified Carcass's reputation as a true legend in extreme metal.
